St. Basil’s College was founded in 1939 as a seminary for the education of priests for the Ukrainian Catholic Church.
The College’s resources are unmatched; they include the Ukrainian Museum and Library of Stamford, the first artistic and cultural center of its kind in the United States. Also, the Ukrainian Cultural Research Center which houses a collection of 70, 000 volumes devoted to all areas of Ukrainian studies and civilization is located on campus. Taken together, these facilities present one of the largest collections of Eastern European holdings in the United States. The College’s faculty and staff have considerable expertise in Eastern Europe and Ukraine having lived and traveled extensively that region.
