ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS
The College sellects from its applicants for admission those students who show promise of profiting from the environment it provides. Successful completion of a secondaary school program of study or the equivalent is the minimum academic requirement for admission to the degree programs but it is not a guarantee of acceptance. Secondary school credits should be distributed as follows:
English - 4; Foreign Languages - 2; Social Studies - 2; Mathematics - 3; Science - 3; Electives
Non-Degree Students
Non-degree students are those who are taking credit courses but not working toward a degree. Proof of secondary school completion is not required.
Admission Procedures
1. All correspondence concerning admission should be addressed to the Admissions office.
2. Applicants for degree programs are admitted for Fall and Spring Semesters. Those applying as non-degree students must file an application a minimum of two weeks prior to the beginning of course enrollment.
3. Applicants for degree programs must provide the following along with the completed application:
a) official secondary school transcript
b) letter of recommendation from an official at secondary school attended
c) $100 application fee (check or money order)
Transfer Students
Applicants must submit the following to the Admissions office:
1. Completed application form.
2. Transcripts from colleges and universities attended.
3. $100 application fee.
Only those course credits will be accepted for transfer for which the students has received a grade of "C" or better according to the grading systems of the institutions(s) attended.
All transcripts must be mailed directly from the institutions(s) attended to the Admissions office.
Transfer of philosophy credits which will be applied to the student's major, is limited to one-half of the required credits.
Advanced Standing
Credit earned as advanced standing credit will be considered for acceptance provided that the course(s) in question correspond(s) to the offering (s) of the College. Advanced standing credit will not be awarded until one academic semester has been satisfactorily completed at the College.
Foreign Students
St. Basil College is authorized under Federal law (Immigration and Nationality Act P.R. 87-195) to enroll non-immigrant alien students. Students from other countries seeking admission to St. Basil College should write to the Office of the Dean for information, and they will be referred to the Foreign Student Advisor.
All foreign students are required to take an English placement test and to be interviewed by the director of the English Department. If a foreign student's command of the English language is judged to be insufficient to pursue the college's course of study, then that student will be required to enroll in an English as a Second Language Program and should understand that he will not be permitted to enroll in the regular sequence of courses until such a time as his placement test assures his proficiency in English.
